Some of our Services

Counseling and Family Support

Diabetes Counselling is for all people living with all types of diabetes, their families and friends. Our aim is to connect people with diabetes and their families to a better quality of life. We understand that diabetes management goes hand in hand with your wellbeing.

Diabetic Foot Care

Diabetes can reduce the blood supply to your feet and cause a loss of feeling known as peripheral neuropathy. This can mean foot injuries do not heal well, and you may not notice if your foot is sore or injured.

If you have diabetes, you’re 15 times more likely to have a limb amputated due to gangrene.

Dietary Plan

Are you constantly asking yourself, “What can I eat?” It’s time to stop worrying! Living with diabetes doesn’t have to mean feeling deprived. We’ll help you learn to balance your meals and make the healthiest food choices.

Once you get the hang of eating a healthy diet, you can relax and dig in to a wide variety of delicious meals and snacks.

A great way to get started is calling Puerto Rico Renal Health.

Health Education to Patient

The value of patient education can be summarised as follows:

  • Improved understanding of medical condition, diagnosis, disease, or disability.
  • Improved understanding of methods and means to manage multiple aspects of medical condition.
  • Improved self-advocacy in deciding to act both independently from medical providers and in interdependence with them.
  • Effective communication and patient education increases patient motivation to comply.
  • Patients more likely to respond well to their treatment plan – fewer complications.
  • Patients feel you’ve provided the information they need.
  • More effective use of medical services – fewer unnecessary phone calls and visits.
  • Patients more likely to stay with your practice and refer other patients.[2]
  • Lower risk of malpractice when patients have realistic expectations.[3]
